1. Who We Are

Antares is a research intelligence platform operated by Antares AI Limited. We help researchers at all levels navigate their research journey — from identifying a research gap through to final submission.

2. What Data We Collect

Account information
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, institution, program, and citation style preference. This information is used to personalise your research experience.

Research data
We store the research content you create on Antares — your confirmed research gap, research question, objectives, methodology, chapter drafts, and session history. This data exists to provide continuity across your research sessions.

Uploaded documents
When you upload documents to your project — proposals, chapter drafts, research notes — we store these files and extract their text content to provide context to the AI agent during your sessions.

Usage data
We collect basic usage information — when you log in, how many sessions you use, which features you access. This is used to manage your subscription tier and improve the platform.

Payment data
We do not store your payment credentials, card numbers, or mobile money PINs. All payment processing is handled by Pesapal. We only store your subscription status and transaction confirmation records.

Communications
If you contact us by email we store that correspondence to respond to your enquiry.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes only:

  • To provide the Antares research guidance service to your account
  • To maintain continuity of your research context across sessions
  • To manage your subscription and process payments via Pesapal
  • To send you account-related emails — welcome email, subscription confirmations, account deletion notices
  • To respond to support requests
  • To improve the platform based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns

We do not:

  • Use your research content, uploaded documents, or chat history to train AI models
  • Share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
  • Sell your data to anyone
  • Use your data for any purpose beyond providing the service to you

4. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored on secure cloud servers. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.

Uploaded files and extracted text are stored in your project folder on our servers. Database records including your account information, chat history, and generated content are stored in an encrypted PostgreSQL database.

We will update this policy with the specific server region once our hosting infrastructure is finalised.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account a 30 day grace period begins during which you can restore your account by contacting us. After 30 days all your data is permanently and irrecoverably deleted — including uploaded files, chat history, generated content, embeddings, and your account record.

We do not automatically delete inactive accounts. Your research data is preserved until you explicitly request deletion.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — request that we correct inaccurate data about you
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data through your account settings or by contacting us
  • Portability — request an export of your research data in a readable format
  • Objection — object to how we process your data

7. Third Party Services

Antares uses the following third party services:

Anthropic — the AI model powering Antares's research guidance is provided by Anthropic. Your messages are processed by Anthropic's API in accordance with their privacy policy and terms of service.

Pesapal — payment processing. Pesapal handles all payment transactions. We do not receive or store your payment credentials.

Resend — email delivery. We use Resend to send account emails. Your email address is shared with Resend solely for the purpose of delivering emails from Antares.

Railway — cloud hosting. Our servers and database run on Railway's infrastructure.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third party services. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

8. Cookies

Antares uses strictly necessary cookies only — specifically an authentication cookie that keeps you logged in during your session. This cookie is essential for the platform to function and does not require your consent.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third party analytics cookies. A full description of the cookies we use is available in our Cookie Policy.

9. Children's Privacy

Antares is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account contact us and we will delete the account immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The current version of the policy is always available at antaresai.co/legal/privacy.

11. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Uganda including the Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019.
